Deacons Ministry
The Board
of Deacons serves the spiritual needs of the congregation, assists the
pastor in the administration of the worship services, visits the sick
and shut-ins of the church, has charge over the welcoming of new members,
training for baptism and presentation of candidates for membership to
the church. They are the men and women who are the spiritual leaders
among the congregation.
The
Deacons:
Chair: Gladys Gray-Lawrence
Vice
Chair: Audrey Alston-Pennington
Secretary: Alex Aimette
Treasurer: John Hall

Ernest Churchville
Communion:
Every first Sunday of the month, the Deacons assist the pastor in the
ordinance of the Lord’s Supper at the regular worship service.
They also serve the Lord’s Supper to the sick and shut in of our
church as well as to various long-term care facilities.
Shepherd’s
Lists:
Each Deacon is also designated as a shepherd and is responsible for
a percentage of the congregation as his or her sheep. Phone calls are
made, cards and letters are sent, visits are made, and in general a
tone of spiritual nurture exists between the shepherds and their sheep.
Deacons'
Fund: Every first Sunday, the Deacons take up an offering that
is used to benefit the needy within and without our congregation. Any
member in need may contact the board of Deacons to inquire about emergency
assistance.
Meetings:
The Board of Deacons meets every 2nd Sunday immediately after the worship
service.
